What Can Invisalign® Treat?

Meta: You may have heard of Invisalign® aligners- but what do they treat? Here is a comprehensive list of the types of orthodontic issues treated by Invisalign®.

The differences between Invisalign® and traditional wire and bracket braces is “clear” (pun intended!). While wire and bracket braces are obvious, not removable, and difficult to clean, Invisalign® aligners are exactly the opposite. They are hard to detect, can be removed easily, and are extremely easy to clean. In fact, because they are removable, even teeth being treated with Invisalign® are easier to be cleaned.

But while Invisalign® is superior in many ways to traditional braces, it isn’t for everyone. If your orthodontic issues are too severe you may not be a good candidate for this treatment. Thankfully, Invisalign® treatment is still great for many common bite issues. Here are just a few:

Crowded Teeth

Crowded teeth are when your teeth are all out of alignment because they are pushed together due to your arches or jaw being too small to fit all your teeth comfortably. Invisalign® aligners can be used to help move the teeth into better alignment so they are not crowded together.

Overbites

An overbite occurs when the teeth on the upper jaw overlap over the teeth on the lower jaw too far. This can make speaking, eating, and chewing a challenge, but can be corrected with Invisalign®!

Crossbite

A crossbite occurs when some teeth on both the upper and lower jaw are positioned in front of each other. Invisalign® is a great treatment option for patients with a crossbite!

Underbite

An underbite occurs when the teeth on the lower jaw stick out further than those on the upper jaw. This can make teeth more susceptible to damage from other teeth, but the good news is, in many cases it is also fixable via Invisalign® aligners!

Open Bite

An open bite occurs when the teeth on the upper and lower jaws do not meet when the mouth is closed. Invisalign® can correct an open bite easily and quickly.

Crooked Teeth

Sometimes teeth are simply crooked and require minimal intervention. Invisalign® is a great option for this, and your Invisalign® treatment can often be completed in less time than wire and bracket braces!

Gaps

Do you have gaps between your teeth that you’d like closed? Invisalign® can pull the teeth together in natural formation, closing gaps and creating a beautiful smile!

As you can see, Invisalign® treats myriad bite issues, and can often do so faster and easier than traditional wire and bracket braces. If you are interested in learning more about Invisalign®, please contact Dr. Abelar for a consultation today.
